In Loving Memory of
Ray Horiuchi
March 3, 1952 – November 25, 2022

Ray Horiuchi was a deep and humble soul.
He was a man of integrity with a big and compassionate heart.
A carpenter by trade, Ray expressed his creativity through wood and stone carving.
He was happiest when he could combine artistry and carpentry.
In his spare time Ray loved reading, collecting art, visiting flea markets,
listening to music, and watching movies.
He was a great conversationalist, and an even better listener.
Ray will be remembered by many for his kindness and willingness
to step up and help friends and neighbors in need.
He donated blood more than 65 times, and when the fires
hit Sonoma County, he collected bedding and other necessities for fire victims.
Often, Ray would assist friends and fellow artists with various projects,
including art shows, fundraisers that supported cancer survivors,
and activities by local Indigenous people.
Ray was committed to numerous Social Justice issues, and years ago
became a friend and supporter of the Pomo Project, a small,
community-based organization in Santa Rosa.
The Pomo Project has been hosting free
educational and cultural events each October for almost 14 years.
Ray not only attended local events, but for years he could be counted on
to show up early to assist with preparations.
Ray was integrated into our lives in many different ways.
He is dearly missed.
